Gabriele Corni (b. 1972) lives and works in Bologna.

After perfecting his oil painting technique in the studio of Norma Mascellani, he experimented in creating three-dimensional metal constructions and worked with the sculptor Silvia Zagni, after which he decided to concentrate entirely on photography. His experiments with post-production techniques, including digital painting, have led him back to his original interest – painting – with enhanced plasticity of shapes. In addition to his career as an advertising photographer, he continues his artistic research by focusing on the human body: a tool for investigating relevant themes. In “Adoperabili” (2009) he explores the female body as an object, while in the ongoing “Apnea” project, a series of portraits in water, the submerged human body becomes a metaphor for the apneas of everyday life. Corni’s images lead to many levels of sensory and intellectual investigation. Works in the “Adoperabili” series have been purchased by the Boghossioan Foundation in Brussels. With “Apnea,” he received the honorable mention at Codice MIA 2016. In 2017, he shot portraits of the cast (immersed in water) of the film "The Book of Vision (Carlo Hintermann, director, Terrence Malik, executive producer).
